Term:

Ferroelectric

Definition:

Ferroelectricity is a property of certain materials that have a spontaneous electric polarization that can be reversed by the application of an external electric field. The nonlinear nature of ferroelectric materials is highly use to make capacitors with tunable capacitance. Paraeletric materials also show nonlinear polarization properties.
