Simulated Breakdown Screening (SBDS)

Definition:

Simulated Breakdown Screening (SBDS) is a KEMET patented process to screen out potentially weak devices from a production lot. Each capacitor is non-destructively tested to determine the potential breakdown voltage, without damaging the device.
This ensures that only the most robust capacitors are shipped to the customer.
SBDS is often used in high-reliability industries such as medical or aerospace.
